Not even John Carpenter And Co. could make a remake of Escape From New York. They tried, 11 years ago. The one benefit: Shirley Walker's score kicked ass. But otherwise, 'twas ass-flavored.

So: word.

Oh. True, dat. (Getting to feel up Valeria Golino was, I'm sure, a fringe benefit...)

I remember writing (when I reviewed Vampires back in '98) that when John Carpenter's films don't work, they sound "as if each line of dialogue was written by a different person in a different room." I was thinking of Escape From L.A. when I wrote that.

Yes, definitely the high point. And I always enjoy Ms. Pam Grier. But otherwise, eep.

Compared to the original's? No way!

There was one good section, coincidentally the Surgeon General.

Even though my love for Gerard Butler is deep and unpure, EVEN I think this is a sucktastic idea.

I think Butler's gonna have a lot of roles to shop from.

I don't think this is one he needs.

Didn't any of these people learn in school that making up your own stuff was better than using someone elses?

In school it's plagiarism, in Hollywood it's business as usual.
