That is so neat! I never even thought about other countries' equivalents of John Doe. I wonder why "Fulano" and "de Tal" are so popular.

See, both of those were my reactions as well! I'd never thought about it, but now that I know the info's out there, I'm fascinated. And I'd love to know the consensus by which "generic" names are decided upon.
