Top ten video game console flops
May. 8th, 2007 12:42 pmThis list is supposedly the top ten worst-selling video game systems of all time, but (as the opening paragraph acknowledges), it's more a listing of high-profile flops.
I've owned three of these: The Jaguar, The TurboGrafx-16, and the Dreamcast, and I only regret the Jaguar (which simply never blew me away, game-wise). The other two kicked ass and took names.
Also, if I'd had more money at the time, I'd definitely have owned a Saturn, as well.

Date: 2007-05-08 05:41 pm (UTC)I still want a Dreamcast. So many damn good titles never came out for anything else! (Though I'd have to learn Japanese to play most of them, I bet.)
I used to have a formula I'd use for deciding when to buy a console. When the total cost of all of its must-have games (in my sole opinion) is double the cost of the system, it's worth owning. The Playstation took two years to reach that point, and the X-Box never got there.
The Jaguar has the distinction of being the only system I've heard of that has ever ended its run with a $0 score. I've never seen one game for it that qualified as a must-have or even a kinda-want. I remember liking the sound of at least a couple of N-Gage titles.
But ... the Apple Pippen? I didn't even know that ever actually existed.
And Sonic CD was not the best Sonic game of all time. I will grant that it had the best music. But not the best Zones. And it's the Zones that matter. (Especially since I have the soundtrack album.)
