yendi1. Woke up and headed to breakfast at The Crown Cafe, which might be the last breakfast/brunch place in Watertown I hadn't tried. Had an omelet with basturma (Armenian cured beef) and cheese that was heavenly, along with hash browns and rye toast. 'song had steel-cut oats and hash browns, and Elayna had a waffle with strawberries.
2. Headed to the aforementioned book sale.
3. Took care of errands involving mailing packages and stuff returning library books.
4. Picked up Elayna's friend J (also known as Coyote-chan) on the way home.
5. Walked to Waverly Square, getting distracted by three garage sales en route. Only the fact that we were without backpacks saved us from spending more than a few bucks.
6. Took the 73 in to Harvard Square, where we hit the Cambridge River Festival.
At the festival, we:
A) Found Elayna a gorgeous skirt.
B) Found some amazing stuff from Tyler's Sweet Revenge. Got Pumpkin Butter, Jalapeño Pepper Jelly, and Sweet Pepper Jelly. All yummy. (And yes, their website needs some copyediting.)
C) Got other assorted nifty things.
D) Watched Elayna and Coyote-Chan take to some of the more elaborate costumes, both wearing costumes that were way taller than they were. I'm hoping we got some good photos of them. 'song also found an owl costume to try on.
E) Ate assorted overpriced foodstuffs.
F) Watched Elayna and Coyote-Chan help Ken Reker launch his floating art project.
G) Got free samples from Nantucket Nectars, Dunkin' Donuts, and Luna Elixers. And free toys from Microsoft. And a tree and plantable postcards from Burt's Bees.
H) Did and saw lots of other stuff that I'm probably forgetting.
7. Finally hiked back to Harvard Square and hopped the bus home (stopping for iced coffee en route).
8. Remembered that the Osco closes at 5 on Saturdays, and got 'song's prescriptions filled in the nick of time.
9. Collapsed.
