Jim Beaver, W. Earl Brown, and Keone Young have all been posting semi-regularly on the HBO boards since before Deadwood was canceled. They've all been very candid about their experiences on the show and with David Milch.
There has been a lot of rumor and misinformation going around, due in no small part to fans who make unfounded assumptions, like blogger JO, who clearly had not read a single article or interview about the Deadwood/JFC debacle before writing an entry in his blog expressing his own completely speculative version of events.
I don't mean to sound critical, everybody's entitled to an opinion. However, the information that Jim Beaver shared with him has been out there on the web for some time, available to anyone who was interested enough to look for it. At no point has it been less than clear to any alert fan that responsibility for the decision to cancel Deadwood rests squarely upon the shoulders of HBO. This is not to say that Milch couldn't have handled some things better, and it's fair to say that at this point, even Milch has lost interest in producing the Deadwood movies (much to my disappointment).
C'est la vie.
Maybe the cop show will blow our socks off.
