Vick's plea agreement acknowledges the dog killing. The asshole is merely denying the gambling charges.

I don't give a flying fuck about gambling; the only thing wrong with these gambling charges was the idea of gambling on dog-fighting. But gambling, in and of itself, doesn't bother me in the slightest (unless he bet on games in which he was involved, of course).

But acknowledging being a torturer and killer of dogs? Nope. Don't ever want to see that asshole again, thank you very much. And if the NFL decides that someone like this should be a part of their league, that's a sign that the NFL doesn't want a red fucking cent from me ever again.

I really hope that his jail sentence (which will be way too small) finds him sharing a cell with a number of animal lovers. And I hope that Judge Hudson decides to ignore the plea's 12-18 month suggestion and opt for the full five years.

Did you watch the Daily Show this week? Jon Stewart mentioned this very thing... not only that... but the commentator reaction about him not "flipping" on other members of the NFL because he's not that kind of person.

Link should be here: http://www.comedycentral.com/motherload/player.jhtml?ml_video=91952&ml_collection=&ml_gateway=&ml_gateway_id=&ml_comedian=&ml_runtime=&ml_context=show&ml_origin_url=/shows/the_daily_show/videos/most_recent/index.jhtml&ml_playlist=&lnk=&is_large=true but it's under the Recent Videos as "Vick's Rub"

I was sort of hoping that they'd let him play, but put him in there against teams full of people who like dogs.

I seem to remember it being reported that someone on the Falcons [anonymously of course] said that if Vick came back, they really wouldn't try to hard to protect him.

I believe I've seen this before, I believe it was called "Being David Carr"

David Carr career sacks after just 6 years: 249. That's 41.5 sacks a season.

He's denying the gambling, because the gambling is all the NFL cares about. I guarantee he'll be back in a uniform somewhere in a few years. I mean, hell, the Braves kept Rocker around after his assholery antics, and only dumped him when he stopped pitching well.

The main difference there was that Rocker didn't actually hurt anybody. He mouthed off stupidly, pissed a whole lot of people off, and got called on the carpet before the Atlanta Braves' chief publicity officer: Hank Aaron. Who then asked him if he had anything against black people.

As near as I could tell, Rocker stopped pitching well when he let the crowd get to him. Including the crowd in Richmond.

...while they do note that the dog fighting is cruel, reprehensible and illegal, they are most mad at Vic for...

...the gambling. (http://assets.espn.go.com/media/pdf/070824/michaelvickletter.pdf)

Your plea agreement and the plea agreements of your co-defendants also demonstrate your significant involvement in illegal gambling. Even if you personally did not place bets, as you contend, your actions in funding the betting, and your association with illegal gambling both violate the terms of your NFL Player Contract, and expose you to corrupting influences in derogation of one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an NFL player.

The fact that our society finds gambling to be more of a "sin" than torturing and killing dogs just solidifies my feelings about how desperately we, as a species, need to be rendered extinct.

My coworker does animal shelter / rescue work.

We were discussing the merits of how fast an NFL player could run while being chased by 53 very hungry pitbulls.

Is that wrong? I can never tell.

I'm sad for the dogs and mad at Vick. I'm also frustrated on behalf of Joey Harrington. I like the guy, and have watched him struggle in the NFL and hope that he finds his groove (or at least the "Captain Comeback" mojo he had in college), and I can imagine he did NOT want the job this way.

And I'm also starting to wonder if the Falcons higher-ups had any suspicions of what was up with Vick, even before the owner asked him and he lied "No."

The article's been updated, Yendi: the NFL's suspended Vick "indefintely." It's not yet to "And never darken our lockers again!" status, but it's closer.

I'm sure ebay is starting to flood with Vick merchandise since it's all going down the crapper at this point.

I don't know if you saw this or not but ESPN posted the official letter from the commissioner.
