I've been doing it for awhile (and you probably will, too!). Do give a shout if you have any questions as you go through it.
Note-- do make sure that you get your cocktailcrafting kit and oven from the special store (in the waffle haus), and not from the market demon. Meat's rare until you get to level 10 or so. (Heh.)
*nod* The lack of meat is kind of amazing. When I got a decent amount (thanks to "selling" my kidney) I splurged on Greed and Envy just to ensure I could at least keep a decent flow of stuff coming in. Of course, I'm not used to having to stick to areas like the Haunted Kitchen at level 3; even on HC, there were so many things (like permed Madrigal) that made it easy.
Oh, here's another handy tidbit I just remembered: The potato sprout is available in the conservatory as a Bad Moon adventure, in addition to being occasionally available in the DD.
I got my tower familiars early. It's giving me a nice (probably false) sense of security. ;)
I am about to ascend, with my first multi, for the second time. And lo! Bad Moon calls to me, although it would be a REALLY STUPID choice. And I think I probably used a 10-leaf clover anyway.
Clearly I am insane, since hardcore oxy for a casual player like me sounded like fun. :P
Nice! I'm a week into my first Bad Moon, as a seal clubber. Regarding the seven deadly skills, I've only picked up Pride and Envy so far. I'll be getting Gluttony fairly soon, I think, as adventures from food now outweights stats/fight. I know you've already picked up Greed, but I have to say that I think that's a bad move. Meat is actually more available than you might think, and a lot of it comes from selling items. Particularly if you're playing a class that doesn't have any +items skills, Envy without Greed seems very important. Also, I strongly recommend getting a baby gravy fairy, even though it requires spending time in the otherwise-sucky Haiku Dungeon. On the upside, you might get a bugbear bungguard, which otherwise only drops from the bugbear-in-the-box at the "Fun" House. The bugbear outfit gives you bakery access, which is very helpful.
It can also be very helpful to exploit semirare drops as much as possible. Eat a pair of fortune cookies to find out your semirare counter and make sure to spend the turn they indicate getting the semirare. Among the best are the Knob Goblin Elite outfit at the Kitchens(but be sure you can take the Elite Captain in a fight), the food and booze from the Haunted Pantry and Sleazy Back Alley, the six-pack of New Cloaca-Cola from the cola wars battlefield (which can restore a total of ~800-1000 mp), Mick's IcyVapoHotness Inhaler at the Castle (massive +meat for the Nuns sidequest), scented massage oil from the Harem (can get you out of needing Red Pixel Potions, plus saving your ass against bosses), and shrinking powder from the Hidden City (phenomenal vs. bosses).
Anyway, have fun! I'm greatly enjoying my run, so far, and feeling good about doing another 5 to collect the full Brimstone set. I'm estimating this run at around 18 days, which seems OK for my first Bad Moon.
Oh! Do all your shoring at the Distant Lands Dude Ranch Adventure. From what I've read, the single worst RNG-screw you can get in Bad Moon is to need a Goat and not have gotten any anti-cheese.
Yeah, I realize that I might have erred as far as the skills go, but I'm having fun anyway.
I did anticipate the Gravy Fairy thing, and scored half of what I need on my second turn in the dungeon. I'm guessing that I'll still have to wait until level five for the shroom half? I was surprised to nab Torso Awaregness, so I'm not sure what else I might find early.
I usually end up with the Inhaler and Pirate Juice (almost single-handedly ensures not hits from the level 12 boss) by accident, but I'll have to aim for the other adventures.
Thanks for the heads up about anticheese. Otherwise, I'd have gone moxie when I shored.
There are lots of weird exceptions, but afaik you cannot get your baby gravy fairy until you get to the knob kitchens and score a knob mushroom.
Getting Torso easily is pretty awesome, though I have yet to get any shirts. I would definitely try to get Torso on a Turtle Tamer run, since the smithable shirts are pretty awesome.
