The One Laptop Per Child sale -- where you get one for yourself and one shipped to a child in a developing country for $400-- starts today.

I played with one of these back in May, and I can tell you that, aside from the good it does, this is also the only non-Mac laptop I've seen that I've actually lusted after. If you need a new laptop, this is a great way to get one cheap and still do some good. And you get $200 worth of a tax deduction, along with T-Mobile Hotspot access for a year.

It does not run Windows. That's a feature, by the way.

Damn. It's only good for people in the US and Canada. A 200 pound laptop would be a great price -- and a good contribution! Forget the tax deduction, as it's irrelevant.

*whimper* I want one! It looks so shiny! And it has a crank charger.

What're the specs on the screen? All I know is what the people on NPR said -- that it's nested in shock absorbers. How cool is that? :D

The spinning is hypnotic @_@ The only reservation I have about that machine is the constant emphasis on how small the keyboard is. I mean, I know why they did it, but how hard is it for an adult to use?
