Not-quite-Black-Friday Amazon deals (Looney Tunes, HD-DVD, and cookie sheets)

Amazon's going to have a Black Friday sale, but they're also clearly trying to undercut some of the commercial sales ahead of time:

1. The first four volumes of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection are on sale for $28.49 a pop (56% off)!

2. The Deal of the Day is Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series for $179.99 (45% off).

3. There's a 50% off Popular Indies sale that includes (amongst others) Eat Drink Man Woman, Wings of Desire, Thank You for Smoking, Thirteen, Waking Life, Sideways, Fast Food Nation, Titus, and the two most overrated and crappy indie movies of 2004, Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State.

4. Over in bakeware (and this is how you know Amazon's really gearing up for for holiday shopping), there are Kaiser 16x14 Nonstick Cookie Sheets going for $5.99 a pop (75% off).

5. And finally, for those ready to make the HD plunge, Amazon's got a Toshiba HD DVD player for $199, with 10 free HD DVDs (three at purchase, two in the box, five more by mail). Only the complete lack of an HDTV in our house is stopping me from jumping on this one.

For some reason, I was reading it as all four LT volumes for $28.49, but, well, not so much.

I wonder how much caffeine I can get out of a chocolate muffin?

They've done a good job of keeping a lid on things (easier for them than for companies that send ads to newspapers, of course). I do hope it's better than a typical Amazon Friday Sale.

I'm ticked about the cookie sheets, as we bought new ones last week. Then again, we needed them for Thanksgiving.
