Dave Sim found a disciple! Yes, he's officially a cult now. I can only assume that the plans are underway for Sim and his worshipper to wear black shirts and sweats and prepare for some holy world free of those "Marxist-Feminists" who keep moving Sim's chair.

Nah, his views on women mark him as a misogynistic asshole. His stated belief that sickness and injury are caused by little demons that need to be SHOT into the SUN mark him as crazy. Depending on your tolerance for the crazy the Cerebus collections are enjoyable up to "Jaka's Story", "Reads" or "Going Home"...

I kind of fail to see what about his writing deserves any sort of academic treatment from the standpoint the writer of the article is giving it. Kind of sounds to me like the guy is already starting out with a conclusion in mind and that's not really very good scholarship. What Sims generally deserves from the scholarship front is for someone to occasionally pony up to the bitter mindless chore of taking him out behind the woodshed when no one else has recently, and the rest of the time, just laugh.

meh, any article that sets out to be 'academic' while makin the claim that someone who has openly stated that he he hates women and thinks they are inferior to men is somehow not a misogynist pretty much fails from the get go.
yes, the column promises to look at what sim said, but it makes mo promise to do so in a manner that even vaguely resembles an objective one, especially since the writer has already given away his ultimate conclusion (that he's also a women hating shithead and dave sim rocks, yo.)
