Not a ton of new stuff (the previous DVD mega-deals and videogame deals, of course, are still active).

In toys, there are sales of 25% off, 26-50% off, and 51-70% off. The latter includes the aforementioned Marvel Heroscape set. You'll find other good games, like Blokus, Settlers of Catan, Upwords, assorted Scene-Its and Craniums, and other stuff there.

In videogames, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, one of the last great Gamecube games, is selling for $9.99 (50% off). It plays on the Wii, of course.

In bakeware, the Pyrex Accents 4-piece Bakeware set (with a 2.5 quart teardrop bowl, 3-quart rectangular baking dish, 9.5 inch pie plate, and 8-inch square baking dish) is $9.99 (75% off)! Yeah, cheap Pyrex bakeware with silicone grips on the handles? I'm so there.

Other kitchen items include a Silicon Baking Mat for $9.99 (60% off), a Pyrex 14-piece storage set with lids (meaning seven pieces, seven lids) for $14.99 (53% off), the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-inch pan with lid (which I got for the holidays during the sales last year) for $29.99 (82% off), and the Lodge Logic pre-seasoned 12-inch cast iron skillet for $15.93 (42% off).

In music, As I Am, the new Alicia Keys disc, is $9.99 (47% off). Ditto Magic, the new one from Springsteen. For those people with kids who have been sucked into the cult, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus is $11.99 (48% off).

In books, World Without End, the new Ken Follett, is $19.25 (45% off).

Also in books, there's a Buy 3, Get One Free sale that includes an amazing amount of good stuff, like Scalzi's The Android's Dream, Gaiman's American Gods, Snickett's The Latke Who Couldn't Stop Screaming, and Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books. I'd glanced at this sale dozens of times before looking at it closely enough to realize just how good the stuff here actually is.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door,

I love that game. But what I really love is playing it with my best friend, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], who will read all of the text in silly voices and make up things for Mario to say, and throw in commentary about the game. "Turning sideways is a skill?! Mario had to learn how to turn sideways. Emily, you didn't tell me that this game is actually about how Mario is Special Needs."

I think of that as something akin to the pilot episode of The Tick cartoon, when he discovers that he has pockets. Some things are only obvious in retrospect. Plus, think about the number of concussions that Mario has as a result of all his time banging his head into bricks.

Hah, I loved that bit in the comic. "I have pockets!" I felt the same way when I found a formal dress with hidden side pockets. I was trying it on and smoothing the skirt down, and my hands just slipped into the wonderful pockets and I was like !!! Still one of my favorite dresses ever.

Speaking vaguely of Settlers of Catan, I've found that I don't like the Knights and Cities expansion, what little I've played of it. We got it for Christmas last year and are just not fond of it, so we just play with the regular and the Seafarers expansion.

I like K&C, but I know that it's a pretty polarizing expansion, based on the comments at BGG and elsewhere.

I think I came up with why it's so polarizing: it completely changes the gameplay, in a way that the Seafarers didn't. Seafarers basically just added different ways of doing the same stuff; K&C feels like a different game. Not necessarily a bad game, just not Settlers.

I'm such a Settlers nerd, I should probably have a Settlers icon.
