It's this building in the northeast:

It's been there for a long time now. It's either a multi-unit apartment building or a small office building. Yet it's got no access to roads (not even a dirt road) and no power lines.

If my crime rate weren't at zero (when I first wrote this post; it's soared to 4% in the last few minutes), I'd say that it's a mob front.

Anyway, I could use some more more industry and police

Maybe it is a mob front; but your crime rate is zero because the mob are incapable of actually getting out and breaking the law... So they just stay home and run protection schemes on each other (but never report it).

Maybe it was supposed to be grain silos, but the Euroweenies who made the MiniCity site didn't know what those look like.

(The building is in the right place for a grain silo.)

I like to think of them as tenement buildings for the Irish Catholic labour force. They don't need a road, I'm already putting a roof over their heads!

My own city has roads that end at the base of trees, not a house around.

It's a CIA operative front, a black building...

Could it be a Port Authority for the inevitable alien landing. I mean, they should be registering each time they come around to abduct a cow or make crop circle, right?

Back when I played lots of SimCity 2, 3 and 4, that was considered 'walking distance' to access the road. :P

ty for getting me hooked on yet another silly online game ;)

It's a green commune. They're generating their own power, maybe with small solar panels you can't see. And they don't need roads. They walk or bike everywhere.

Reminds me of a few buildings from the City of Heroes MMPORG. There were two zones (Faultline and Boomtown) which were rubble and chaos, earthquake and chasm, each with one lone lighted building in the middle of it all. No explanation, no access, just an island of power and ligh amidst all the destruction.
