I haven't sorted out how I felt about the first book, which I was really enjoying until the ending, which made me go WTF? So I'm on the one hand glad for a chance at the story being resolved ina way that is emotionally satisfying as well as well-plotted. On the other, I am thinking "what if it's just the same and leaves me feeling dissatisfied?" And I think probably I ought to re-read Singer before I read the new one. Cos I want to love it, cos it's Adam.
I think my initial issues with the novel centered around how abruptly is shifted in tone and went down a dark path. I suspect a lot of that involves his development as a writer, and given how much I loved most of the rest of the book, I've got faith that he'll pull it off. But yeah, the ending of the first one did leave me a wee bit unsatisfied.
