The State alumni Michael Ian Black and Ken Marino (who will always be Vinnie from Veronica Mars to me) as the gay neighbors with a dark secret are just perfect on Reaper.

Yeah, we're still playing catch-up with the Tivo.

Other shows watched recently:

- The first three episodes of Miss/Guided, which is basically Strangers With Candy Lite. Which isn't a bad thing. The show's not great, but I'll watch Judy Greer in almost anything.

- Lots of Dr. Who reruns from Sci-Fi and BBC America. John Simm's turn on the show (we've seen the first two of his three episodes) has been a blast, and a complete 180 from Life on Mars. I also enjoyed the Family of Blood two-parter.

- Torchwood, which wasn't Owen-centric, and was therefore the best episode in ages.

- Frisky Dingo. We just caught up on all of Season 2. "Sex with her is gonna be like a hot dog in a . . . town." I think we had to pause the Tivo for a few minutes to get a chance to breathe after that scene.

- Bleach. New episodes, finally! More characters for me to follow (did Soifon have more than two lines of dialogue before the last two episodes?)!

- Lost. Yeah, that one moment (you know what it was) on the last episode was a perfect mindfuck.

Coming up soon: New eps of The Tudors, Samantha Who, and other shows I've missed.

No one seems to like Owen.

Sounds like the Smallville writers' Mary-Sue obsession with Lana Lang, which ultimately killed my interest in the show.

Owen has really grown on me in the 2nd season. I thinking filling in some of his back story has helped. No spoilers here, but after learning a bit about his life growing up and how he came to Torchwood, it becomes clear why he acts the way he does.

Rhys also has been less of a jerk. Now if only Gwen would stop being so annoying. (I don't have the major hate-on like some folks in TW fandom do, but she irritates me frequently.)

I have to admit that I am becoming fonder of Owen this season, as well. Though...I think I may be a bit behind you, because I don't remember any backstory.

As for Rhys, he has reason to be less of a jerk now that he knows what's going on.

Next on my wishlist: Tosh gets to keep a significant other for longer than an episode.

I'm watching the backstory episode right now, actually! It aired last week in the UK.

So...I'll see that one next week, I think.

I like Owen! Or...I did until he turned into a frelling ZOMBIE!!! I can't take zombies. *grumble*

Still, I liked how he was evolving. Until he died.

At least he's not shambling around the streets groaning. I keep hoping that they'll find some alien device that brings him back to life.

Wait, which one where? The whole season's been a mindfuck, so I need it to be narrowed down.

I've only watched the first 6 episodes of this season of LOST (7 & 8 are downloading), but I admit that it's starting to get a bit of a Gilligan's Island feel to it, what with all the nearly-getting-off-the-island-but-not-really nonsense.

Marino was on The State, too.

LOST has been so great this season. I think now that they have an end date for the show in sight, they can stop with all of the weird little plots and actually focus on creating a good show.

I loved Family of Blood, but it made me feel bad for Martha.

My favorite thing from Frisky Dingo S2 was the scene where Crews says, "Uhh, Spittake?!" I laugh every time I think about it. Which is a lot of times.

So you like Simms?

I was really...turned off by this version of the Master. I dislike how comic book manic he is, and (even granting my general feeling that folks go too far with CGI effects) I could *not* buy into the changes in the Doctor.

That said, I actually liked the scene where he cues a song to play as soundtrack for his actions; I sorta like (wow, I feel weird saying that) the subtleness in the background that tell you volumes about the Master (...where DID his wife get that black eye?) (OTOH, Delgado's Master exuded menace and control with a look and a hand under the chin) (but I suppose it could be argued, "He's gotten more violent with ages" - I mean, the fellow is way past his 13th regeneration at this point); there were moments I approved of.

(I loved Jacobi's performance as he awakened into the Master, but..I suppose, to be honest, if it's not Delgado, I'm just not going to be happy. *snortle*)
