From here:

A. Taxpayers who use Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) or enter into any other loans or financial agreements with a tax professional, such as agreeing to have return preparation fees deducted from their refunds, cannot receive their stimulus payments by direct deposit and instead will get paper checks based on the paper check distribution schedule.

FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!

Of course I chose the option to have the fees deducted. Can't imagine that, say, everyone who used Turbotax Online didn't.

Fucking bullshit. And Turbotax buried this little piece of info when I was filling out the forms, of course.

So instead of the stimulus check arriving today in our account, it'll be sent on paper in two fucking months.

Fuckers.

Intuit and the IRS can go "stimulate" themselves.

(And yes, I'm equal parts pissed at Intuit, for burying the information associated with taking advantage of the service, the IRS for the stupid plan, and me for not being aware of it.)

I haven't my stuff done by a preparer since I worked there but the online software gives you the option to just go ahead and pay with a credit/debit card.

Ah, that makes more sense!

It IS early. I've been at work since 7:30am and I'm only just now starting to wake up.

It actually makes sense - because rapid refunds are really a loan from the tax prep company and your actual refund goes to them. So if the IRS used that info, whatever company prepared your taxes would get your stimulus check. The situation is similar with the plans that deducted fees from your refund. They open an account for you into which your refund gets deposited and then they disperse it.

Wow. I normally use the same option, but I actually owed money this year. Never thought I'd be happy to owe money on taxes.

BUt federal is free with Turbotax, I thought. If you just paid for state, it shouldn't affect this. It didn't mine. Unless you paid for extra stuff, I guess?

Says US treasury on it... I suppose I'm ok, I'm pretty sure I paid for mine directly.

I know. Me too. This isn't the first time I've seen something nasty like this come out of TurboTax's database either.

BUT IT'S SO EASY. :(

Stupid.

We also had a complicated tax return and couldn't pay out of pocket, so we took it out of our return.

Fabulous.

I feel full of stupid.

It is annoying.

I didn't use such, but the damn social security order confuses... as I don't know if they will use my number or my wife's to send (and they are on different locations on when things get mailed). If it's mine, it's July 4th. Damn annoying late.

Yeah, my mother made that discovery, too.

You can check on the status of your refund by calling: 1-800-829-0582, x462. A real person eventually answers.

OK, so.. I definitely had H&R Block take out prep fees, and I got my refund by direct deposit today. So .. yeah, I'm not sure how true this is, I guess.
