The end of something bad: WaMu. No, I'm not happy about it in terms of what it means for the economy. But I've never, ever dealt with a bank that loathed its customers and treated them like shit the way WaMu did (and this was a top-to-bottom thing; pretty much everyone above the teller level was an asshole). I'll be eating a piece of Schadenfreude Pie over this one.

The end of something good: Minx, the teen-girl-oriented line from DC, is ending as of January. Elayna's a huge fan of a bunch of books from this line (The Plain Janes, Clubbing, and I think Good As Lily, although I might be misremembering the last one). Granted, DC imprints fail all the time (Helix, Piranha, Paradox), and the best of these lines often find other homes (Transmet, Why I Hate Saturn, Understanding Comics), but I wish this one had really taken off.

I had good experiences with WaMu. Everyone seemed nice to me.

On WaMu: Glad to see them go. Their account opening policies allowed for rampant fraud and caused issues for other bank's clients too. They had horrible operating practices and this didn't surprise me one bit. Good riddance.

Yep, Good As Lily. I was looking forward to Token, too!

I have to admit, this year's offerings seemed weaker than last year's to me, but I was really looking forward to Token and Emiko, Superstar too.

I think that the creators of both those have said they should still come out before the line ends...

I've been a WaMu customer since 1996, and they've always treated me well.

Maybe it's only you out-of-staters who get bad service.

We bailed on them about six months ago for sheer bad service at the corporate level. We'd see the "we don't nickel and dime you" signs and growl, "bullshit you don't." The employees were nice enough, but the company sucked huge rocks.

Our current bank appears somewhat local/regional but is actually foreign-owned, which for some reason, has us feeling safer.

Hearing someone is a fan of Clubbing is always weird. Because its really the worst of the lot. But a couple of the minx creators have said they've been asked to resubmit for Vertigo. And I think they still plan to get 2 or 3 books left in the pipeline out...

As for the death of WaMu I'm going to miss getting two credit card offers a week from them...

I liked Clubbing, but it was weird. Like, it's going along in one direction and then suddenly completely changed, and it seemed sort of slapdash.
