Monday morning thoughts
Nov. 3rd, 2008 12:31 pm1. I hate Daylight Savings Time. Hate hate hate hate hate the idea. I want my afternoons and evenings back. ETA: Yes, I hate Standard time, really. But what I really hate is the actual process of switching.
2. I know it won't last, but for today, the Jets (5-3 overall, 2-1 in the division) are in first place!
3. Watching SNL was fascinating. McCain was funny (which is no surprise), but he also all but conceded. And threw Palin under the truck in that opening skit. You know he'd have loved a way to throw Steve Schmidt there too.
4. Forgot to bring the non-Elayna Halloween candy (the stuff that she doesn't eat, but which 'song and I are likely to snack on) into work. Need to do that tomorrow for the sake of my gut.
5. Shockingly, many of the folks supporting Prop 8 in California aren't just bigots; they're also liars. (That said, I'm sure that some of them are bigots but not liars. I don't buy that any of them aren't bigots, however; non-bigoted folks who have issues with the involvment of the courts (like Patterico) are going to come down opposed to Prop 8.
6. I'm equally shocked that Circuit City is closing a bunch of stores. And that the list includes the one near Lenox/Phipps in Atlanta, where I never actually saw a salesperson. Or a deal.
7. BBCAmerica has started showing the British revival of their version of Gladiators. It's fun so far, with the same larger-than-life personalities that the American remake has. Definitely worth watching.
8. I'm impressed by Jon Heyman's list of free agents. It's one of the better analyses out there. Go Hot Stove League!
That's it. Still too stuffy for more than eight thoughts today.

Date: 2008-11-03 05:47 pm (UTC)2. Yeah. This proves that Tom Brady deserved that MVP he got a while back.
3. I liked the "Sad Grandpa" strategy.
4. Not to mention your complexion, if your skin reacts anything like mine to over-processed pseudo-chocolate.
5. And considering the emphasis that Mormons put on telling the truth, this should be surprising. Then again, they've been known to put their money into places which violate their teachings before (e.g., their huge investments in caffeine-distributor Coca-Cola).
6. When you can't compete against Costco for customer service, you've got problems.
7. Chacun a son gout.
8. Varitek may want a deal for more than two years, but his bat has been all but silent lately. He needs to start plotting his course into management now. Baldelli would be an idiot to leave the Rays now (altho they are perpetually on a budget). I predict that the Yankees will once again spend too much for aged players (because their development system has atrophied), and that the Mets will spend too much on players who injure themselves early in the season.
