Nov. 18th, 2008 03:55 pm1. The WSJ details how auction houses creatively make it looks like major pieces of art are selling for more than they actually are.
2. Suggestion: Next time you see one of those bell-ringers at the mall, drop a printout of this page into their bin (and then donate the money to a cause that respects human beings).
3. A cat riding a Roomba (ganked from
lizlet). 'nuff said.
4. Thomas Kinkade's 16 Guidelines for Making Stuff Suck (starring Chris Elliott, Gina Holden, and that guy from Supernatural and Gilmore Girls whose last name I'm destined to always misspell).
5. How Magicians trick the mind.
6. How to peel and eat a pomegranate.
7. MLB is dropping Silverlight. I know this will make some folks happy, but I actually liked the MLB/Silverlight experience.
8. BecauseGod Ben Silverman hates me, NBC will be giving us yet another dance reality show, hosted by Michael Fucking Flatley, featuring teams of Shaolin Monks and Bollywood dancers, amongst others. I'm hoping they get teams called The Gramercy Riffs and The Baseball Furies. Because that's about the only way to get me to watch it.
9. She-Hulk has been cancelled (again). I actually haven't read any issues of PAD's run, as I'm over a year behind on comics, and finding myself insanely uninterested in both the DC and the Marvel Universes as they currently stand (in fact, like Bruce Baugh, I'm basically a Remote Fan of superhero comics). Still, I'd been looking forward to reading this (assuming the plot wasn't torn apart by any of the 89 big Marvel crossovers).
10. Finally, there will be a narrative remake of King of Kong.

Date: 2008-11-18 09:39 pm (UTC)Switching from GG Studios (who were adequate but never exciting) to Steve Scott for the final two issues. Scott should deliver some magic there. There's also a special one-shot in December. So while David might've known for awhile, this seems to make no sense.
At least X-Factor is no longer saddled with Strohman. His new art was killing that book quick IMHO. Valentine should bring things back around.

Date: 2008-11-19 02:03 pm (UTC)That said, I've seen hot artists come onto books that were on the block before (didn't Stephen Platt catch fire on the mid-90s Moon Knight as that series was ending)? I suspect that even when they only have a few issues left, the decision to bring in an artist is based as much on availability as on how hot he or she is.

Date: 2008-11-19 08:23 pm (UTC)She-Hulk has suffered from many artist changes this year. Under David it's been drawn by Shawn Moll, Val Semeiks, GG Studios, someone else and now Steve Scott.

Date: 2008-11-18 11:45 pm (UTC)I'd only heard about cats riding them.
The cat in this one must be deaf,
the Roomba is very noisy.

If you pick Scooba vs Kitten after it, it leads
to lots of cat/roomba vids.
Re that Kinkade article, i loathe Chris Elliot (the guy w/the sandy beard?)
the creepiest person on tv, i think, ever since he literally crawled out
from behind a row of seats on the Letterman show in the nineties.
