I refuse to even read comment threads on newspapers or big sites nowadays.

Yeah. Newspaper articles and such shouldn't even have comments, at least not any connected to the article. A link to another area of commenting, forum or whatever, sure. But people scroll down past the article and bam, vitriol and crap. It's just... ugh.

Says so much about our world, though. Too much.
