A few random holiday notes

Been mostly on radio silence over the last few days. A few items of note:

(-) Flight was cancelled, and we ended up having to fly into Tampa the next day, staying at a hotel, and taking a bus and then a train north. Yes, it was just like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Except not as funny.

(-) Between the hotel and the extra travel, we ended up spending a lot more money than we'd budgeted for this season. This is not a good thing.

(+) The detour allowed us to see haikujaguar!

(-) 'song's birthmom wasn't able to make it here, thanks to a bad case of her boss being a prick. This is the first time we haven't seen her at the holidays.

(+) Spending time with the rest of the family is, as always, wonderful.

(-) That said, I came down with something nasty yesterday, which still has me under the weather, and I wasn't able to eat any of the traditional X-Mas Eve venison chili, or to make it to today's lunch at 'song's birth-aunt's mom's house. Feh. Still feeling a little woozy this evening. Here's hoping I'm better tomorrow.

(+) Elayna, as always, did damned well in the gifting department, and I've got no complaints there myself.

(+) Tomorrow, we all drive down to Orlando, where we'll spend the day with 'song's birth family and her adoptive parents at Universal.

Overall, still a wonderful trip.

Now I wonder if setting up a screen and showing Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in an airport is a bad idea or a brilliant idea.
