I suspect it was the news about him going to jail that caught their eye.
That said, although this guy is scum, the fact that there's a law that allows him to have the insane conflict of interest in the firsts place is a little horrifying.
52% like what he does. Enough for him to keep him getting elected. In one county. I was hoping the Lib 3rd canidate would have taken more votes from him last election...
He relies on the senior citizen vote that like his "tough on crime" publicity crap, and are willing to over look his budget over runs, dangerous prisons, alienation of other law enforcement agencies ect. His reputation in the law enforcement community is pathetic.
And "what he does" is cost you money. How many millions has he spent on his ridiculous immigration stings with little result, for something that isn't his job anyway? Look into how much he and his cowboy tactics have cost Maricopa County (which is who he works for, not Phoenix) in lawsuits. Last I checked it was around $40 million in the last 11 years, and the sherieffs budget has gone from $90 million in 1997 to $256 million in 07, all while the population they are required to "serve and protect" is shrinking.
