Good News: Stephen Norrington (of LXG infamy) is no longer directing the Clash of the Titans remake.

Bad News: That's because he's directing a remake of The Crow.

I love the line that, "Norrington said he felt demoralized by LXG."

Because, you know, so did I. It's like he's in my head!

No. Just. No.

I suppose I can see wanting to try Clash of the Titans with updated special effects, but there is NO GOD DAMN NEED TO REMAKE THE CROW. There is nothing wrong with it. It is beautiful.

Why will nobody tell them no?

The director of LXG and Blade is going to make a "realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style" film.

For his subject, he chose The Crow.

So what DOES a brain sound like when it breaks?

Oh... Hell... No. No. F no. Not a chance. I will take up one of the picket signs if I have to.

I've met JOBarr. I had him sign my ORIGINAL Crow trade paperback, you know, the one before the movie? I still have my Crow original art work that was hung in my bedroom from HS to College.

Has he even read it? It's too gothic? Really? Have you even been to Detroit?

I need to go scrub this image from my brain. Please, for the love of all that is holy and sacred... no no no no no.

I'm not opposed to re-makes per sé, I think I've made that clear. But a re-make of the Crow? What else is there to show? The basic story is, well, basic. It's the standard martial-arts/western/action movie cliché of "They have taken everything away from me, now they must pay!" with the twist that Eric Draven is dead at the start of the story, instead of being alive at the start and maybe dying at the end. It's been done so many times that we don't even think about it anymore; it's even a subplot in other movies. Just off the top of my head, examples include "Death Wish", "Kill Bill", "Death Race"(the recent, perfectly good remake of "Death Race 2000", which original did not have this plot), and the Inigo Montoya subplot of Princess Bride.

The "Dead Guy" conceit isn't enough to make the story work on its own; that's proven by the many failed sequels. What makes the original work is Brandon Lee (and, of course, the many other talented actors and crew who supported him) and we don't have him anymore.
