Every Friday, our group's director brings donuts into the office.

Today, with the best of intentions, I cut one of the donuts in half.

I then looked at it, realized I was way too hungry to eat only half a donut (which is what, one bite? Maybe two?), and grabbed the other half.

I still stand by what I did. I mean, cutting the donut made crumbs fall off (which surely saved some calories), and the very act of cutting had to burn something, right?

This is why you're fat should just redirect to me. It would save them time.

They say the calories fall out of broken cookies. Maybe the same is true with donuts.

I think you're on to something. The outside has fewer calories because they fall off. They get stuck in the middle.

Um... Why were you hungry? Did you skip breakfast?

Hm. I have thoughts on this but LJ isn't the place for 'em.

We'll talk later. *cracks knuckles* <3

I don't know about other people, but I tend to eat breakfast at work because I can't eat right after I get up. I don't generally get hungry until 9 or 9:30.

This was a problem in high school.

Hmmm... maybe it's just me, but when I ate breakfast at work, it was always food that I brought from home. I can not *stand* sugary foods first thing in the morning. Can. Not. Abide.

I'm a big plain oatmeal with a drop of maple syrup and coated in milk fan.

I generally bring food from home as well, but I am unable to resist free food. We usually get bagels instead of donuts when we get free breakfast, though.

It's called willpower, people. :P

I understand the allure of free food, but if free food means I'm going to have a sugar or carb crash later, then it's a no-go.

Everybody knows that if you cut a donut in half and pause at least 15 seconds before eating the 2nd half, there is at least a50% caloric attrition from the severed components. It's Science!

A lot of the women I work with tend to do the cut the dounut in half thing if someone brings some in (granted it is not a regular thing at our office) but I always think "What you couldn't manage a whole dounut?" I think either you eat the dounut or you don't. And if you do, then don't guilt yourself about it, its just a dounut.

Plus one dounut is better for you than one bagel. http://www.cluckbucket.com/alternate/doughnut.htm
