I can't deny it - my insomnia may come on its own at times, but it's also book-induced on occasion. Tonight, it's Neil Barrett, Jr.'s fault -- I had to stay up to read the last hundred or so pages of The Prophecy Machine. It's a thoroughly twisted book -- I honestly can't think of anything to compare it to, although there's certainly a touch of steampunk here. It's part satire, part adventure, and part David Lynch. It's the second Barrett book I've read, and the first of his fantasies (the other one was a detective story). He's now high on my list of authors I must find. Guess I'll go to be now and pick out my next book to read in the morning

Why, for the love of Cthulhu, do people insist on sending 2.5MB forwards? This wasn't even spam -- it was one of those well-meaning (I guess) people who thought something was funny. I mean, if I ask for it, that's one thing, but with a file that large, hasn't anyone thought about just sending a weblink? Sheesh. This happens too damned often.

I'll occasionally go off on comics rants, and I've got one stored up about how most of the Marvel and DC universes just suck ass and take up space, and have no purpose other than nostalgia. But in the meantime, there's still some humor value. Check out the Onion this week -- http://www.theonion.com/onion3805/when_you_are_ready.html
