Yay! Midori Snyder's Hannah's Garden, the last of the four planned books in Froud's Fairylands series, is finally available for pre-ordering (you're welcome to buy me a copy off my wish list, of course). It's available for pre-ordering at the linke below.

The first three books in the series (de Lint's The Wild Wood, McKillip's Something Rich and Strange (both released before the series was axed), and Windling's The Wood Wife) were all damned fine books. And Snyder's one of my favorite authors, so I'm very much looking forward to this one. Although since it's being targeted as a YA novel, I'm guessing that her talents at writing damned erotic scenes might be a bit muted here. :-)

Word of the day:

Fuckmonkey (expletive): 1. The word Adam has taken to muttering constantly under his breath every few minutes now for two days straight, and will continue to utter for at least another week. 2. A monkey who fucks.

Yeah, another of those days.

Oh, in the meantime, anyone looking for a nifty shopping experience should check out Neil Gaiman's Official Store, run by the folks at Dreamhaven. Link found via Neil's weblog, which in turn was funneled into an RSS feed for my copy of NetNewsWire Lite by the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] deus_x. The store has some nifty items already, with more to come.

Free Speech in a Time of War
Featuring Aaron McGruder
Creator of "The Boondocks"
8pm September 10, 2002
Glenn Memorial Auditorium
Part of the Rethinking Just War" events series

A graudate of the University of Maryland in African American Studies, cartoonist Aaron McGruder created The Boondocks in 1997. Now circulated in some 210 newspapers, the comic strip the tells story of a group of African American city kids adjusting to life in white suburbia.

A recent issue of Utne Reader highlighted McGruder’s work, noting that McGruder and other cartoonists are often the only consistent voice of opposition to the current war on terrorism available in national newspapers. What are the rights and responsibilities of free speech in a time of war? Are there limits we should recognize? Or is everything fair game?

Doors open at 7:30pm. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Fishburne Deck and the B. Jones Lot on campus.

Anyone want to babysit that night? I'm pretty sure both [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and I will wanna be there. And if we can't make it, anyone wanna sneak in a tape recorder?
