So, as I haven't mentioned on LJ (much to my surprise, not counting some comments), I won 2 tix to the Bon Jovi show tonight at Phillips. We got there, and the tix turned out to be front row.

Both horror movies inspired by it (Valentine, and My Bloody Valentine) sucked major ass.

You know, I'd previously thought that if we go to war, Congressmen who vote in favor of the war should be on the frontlines.

Let's add Hallmark executives to that list, okay?

Happy Valentine's Day, for those who think it's a good thing.

Woke up late. Like after-sevenish late. And then, only because Elayna, who'd also missed her alarm, woke us ("Adam, it's 7:10, and I was supposed to be at school."). We somehow managed to all get dressed, get lunch packed for Miss Kid (quickest turkey sandwich ever), and get out the door by 7:15, getting her to school in time for her to eat her traditional breakfast (bag o' Honey Nut Cheerios, but she likes eating with the other kids), and us to work in time. Had to make a stop at Caribou, of course.

I love today's Sinfest, which captures the "spirit" of the day perfectly. Today's Kevin and Kell, on the other hand, is just icky.

And [livejournal.com profile] forioscribe, one of the few LJ writers whose own posts are almost always guaranteed to move and fascinate me, takes a break with today's post to transcribe a poem by a man who truly spoke wonders when it came to the subject of the heart -- Kipling.

Anyway, I just wanted to spend a moment to say a couple of words to all of you. FIrst, I've got a lot of people on my friends list. And regardless of the semantics of the LJ term "friend," I do consider all of you to be interesting and articulate people. And I enjoy reading all of you. Likewise, I care about all of you. And I really wish I had the time to respond to everything you say, offer a hug every time things suck, offer advice every time a request is made, offer support, offer kind words, etc. I try. But if I don't, it's not because I didn't see your post, and not because I don't care. It's usually because someone else has already gotten the words out, or I'm overwhelmed by work, or whatever. But I enjoy reading all of your posts, and I wanted to thank each and every one of you for being there, and for your daily writings.

I'm not kidding. I forgot to mention this last night. His guitar tech dresses in a monk's robe (complete with hood), and has two small flashlights inside to let him move around, which glow just like jawa eyes. He looks like a really tall Jawa.

I want my own personal Jawa.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that during their encore performance of "Bad Medicine," the big movie screens were showing a "nurse" pole-dancing. I think all concerts should have this. Hell, if they'd just shown that during the Goo Goo Dolls opener, I'd have been a lot more entertained.

I just read the thread over here

I am beyond pissed. Between the person who made the post, and the first responder, I really would love to get them alone with a lead pipe.

Edit If you've got any issues that are triggered by animal abuse (or if you just feel damned strongly about the subject), this can be a tough read.

I need a walk. And I need to cuddle Max, like right now.

Daredevil was a better movie than Spiderman

This will be spoiler-free, because I want all of you to see it. Some critics (like Ebert) have gotten it, but others, including the normally infallible Elvis Mitchell, haven't. But if you're the type who tends to hate things when they get overhyped, don't read on. I want you all to like this movie.

spoiler-free stuff ahead )
