Warning -- the following could be considered spoilers for the first twenty minutes of Jeepers Creepers. Although I find the idea of spoiling the first twenty minutes of almost any film (Goldmember aside) implausible. But I'll cut tag it, anyway.
stupid stupid Jeepers Creepers )

Yeah. You can guess which one they chose.

Fucking idiots.

The movie itself had only one or two really stupid moments like that, but it was enough. The creepiness of the villain was more than balanced out by the stupidity of most of the characters.

I'm just glad I caught it on Tivo, instead of paying money for it.

And worse, I just checked the IMDB, and saw that it was directed and written by Victor Salva. I'm really glad I didn't pay money for it now. And even more disgusted that I watched it at all.

Cat update!

Neither [livejournal.com profile] shadesong nor I have updated on the cats in a while, so:

After that first accidental meeting, we let the cats see more of each other over the weekend, and after some initial power play stuff and hissing, they get along wonderfully! Jack is a lot more playful, of course, and he occasionally annoys Max, but for the most part, Max puts up with his new little brother with good grace.

Jack did decide to pee (not spray) on the sofa on Saturday, which made us very unhappy. But otherwise, adjusting has been fine. They both insist on eating each other's food (which means that Max will get even fatter, as the kitten food is high-calorie), but they are now so comfortable with each other, it's perfectly possible to pick one up in each arm. Both are still cuddly and friendly.

We also got Jack a pack of Furry Mice, which keep him well entertained, but which he has a habit of swatting under sofas. But they help with the playing and the teething, which is good.

Last night was the next big experiment -- it was the first night we let the two of them spend together while we slept. As far as I can tell, no more chaos than usual ensued.

And today is the big experiment -- the first day we've left the house and not kept Jack in a separate hallway. I really hope we still have a house when we get back tonight. :-)

Arrrrrgh!

Just came back from a sneak preview of Pirates of the Caribbean. It was good, silly fun. Better than Cutthroat Island, not quite Captain Blood. Good summer junk food, with great fx and solid fight choreography (although it's pretty low on the swashbuckling scale). Johnny Depp makes up for years of subtle acting by chewing about two tons of scenery, but Jack Sparrow is a part that calls for overacting. Alas, the best line is given away in the previews (a shame, too, as it's better in context), but there's really very little to complain about with this one. Great cast, fun script.

Oh, and do sit through the credits. :-)
