So, watched the episode twice more last night, and noticed a couple of other things.

First, they did the old Superfriends transition at one point, but with a Lantern symbol.

Second, did anyone else notice the Red Sector A reference (it's a Rush song, not a GL thing)?

Third, they had Green Lambkin! Only for a second, but they still get serious props for including him.

So, does anyone know of any places with screen caps of this episode? I need an icon or five.

With ten days left until Halloween, the official countdown can begin. TV channels will finally start showing horror-themed content, more horror movies will get aired than in any other ten days during the year, and, if we're really lucky, there will be a very special episode of Everybody Love Raymond in which the entire cast gets dismembered.

Okay, two out of three ain't bad.

The point is, for horror fans, this is like the Twelve Days of Christmas, only with more beheadings.

So I figure I'll ramble about horror flicks a little bit each day.

Today's topic: The worst post-Hammer film adaptation of a good horror novel.

And if your answer isn't Relic, justify it.

Seriously, I can't remember any adaptation (including Vampire$) that I anticipated so much, and which sucked so badly on the screen. The book was damned good, bordering on great, and the movie was an almost deliberately bad piece of shit.

Folks, Lugh, (whose pic can be found behind this cut) ), one of the sweetest doggies I've ever met, could really use your help. I'll let [livejournal.com profile] sibylla's post here explain the details. I've met and held Lugh, and can say that he is one of the best-natured and sweetest dogs on the planet. He's quiet, loving, and adores people (and cats).

I know that money's tight for lots of folks, but if any of you can spare anything for him, [livejournal.com profile] sibylla's post has the link for paypal donations. She and [livejournal.com profile] ryokan are two of the niftiest folks I know, and they've spent more hours and money than I can imagine taking care of their baby. Any help any of you could provide for them would be truly wonderful.

Just saw a sneak preview of Scary Movie 3, with [livejournal.com profile] one_woman_army and [livejournal.com profile] mermaidblue (yes, I was the short schlubby guy at a premiere with two tall hot blondes -- I'm so fucking Hollywood!). It was way better than the first two, but not up there with Airplane! or The Naked Gun Movies (although it shared director David Zucker with those two). It pretty much had Signs and The Ring as the main targets, with 8 Mile also getting some serious attention. Of course, just about every other genre movie of the last few years was represented. Worth a viewing, although probably not at full price. And if you never saw Airplane!, you're going to miss one of the best jokes in the film.

And can I take a minute to say how incredibly under-appreciated Anna Feris is? Sure, she's just plain gorgeous, but so is half of Hollywood. But she has a truly amazing ability at mimicry. There were moments in this flick where she practically becomes Naomi Watts or Brittany Murphy. Combine that with an amazing sense of comic timing, and I honestly don't know why she's not a star.
