Iron Chef -- the rigged version

I did like Alton's commentary, and the new host was actually pretty good, once I got used to him. Plus, the new Kitchen Stadium itself kicks ass.

No fucking way, however, am I giving in to FoodTV's $45 DVD of the four battles. Just because they have a monopoly on their DVD sets and don't make 'em available through Amazon doesn't mean I'll pay their prices.

On the plus side, the food (the stuff we ate, not watched) was quite yummy.

As for Eli Manning

Yeah, Elway got away with it. He was better, and still had no excuse. Eli is football's J.D. Drew.

It's bad enough that I misspelled Allen Ginsberg's first name in my review of Move Under Ground last month.

But in writing this month's column (yeah, it's late, I know), I just realized that I'd consistently referred to one of the true greats of the last century as "Fritz Lieber."

At least I caught this one before sending it off.
