Nifty!

This film, reviewed here, is written and directed by the stepson of my mom's best friend from college (Lone Starr: What's that make us? Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing!). I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for it when it's released.

For those not reading late last night, I "won" ten free passes to Van Helsing, and a bunch of us saw it last night. My review is up here (warning, contains "spoilers"). Suffice to say, you should not waste good money for this crap.

In other news, the Saturn Awards (which won't be given to Van Helsing) have been awarded. Since the Saturn Awards are the genre version of the MTV Movie awards in terms of predicability, pretty much everyone you expected to win won an award. That said, it's nice to see Amy Acker get some props, although it's only been this season's work that's actually really blown me away.

*snort*

So, who's really responsible for torturing prisoners in Iraq? Why, it's women, feminists, Muslims, and, of course, the 'elite' Academic Left. Damn us all to hell!

(Okay, granted, none of my right-wing friends tend to want Coulter and Thomas representing them any more than I want Michael Moore as my spokesman, but these are still the views that Fuck Snooze is perpetuating).

New issue is up. My column is the very very incomplete (damn, wish I'd known that I was biting off more than I could chew) look at non-HPL Mythos stories. There's also a nice Steven Brust Interview, which everyone should read because, well, it's a Steve Brust interview. lizlet gives us the Three Laws of Adaptations, hangingfire shows us comic creators gone truly mad, and Michael Farrelly (who is LJ-Free, as far as I know), nicely tells folks who oppose librarians what they can do with themselves.
