New issue is up. My column is the very very incomplete (damn, wish I'd known that I was biting off more than I could chew) look at non-HPL Mythos stories. There's also a nice Steven Brust Interview, which everyone should read because, well, it's a Steve Brust interview. lizlet gives us the Three Laws of Adaptations, hangingfire shows us comic creators gone truly mad, and Michael Farrelly (who is LJ-Free, as far as I know), nicely tells folks who oppose librarians what they can do with themselves. Aa always, read and enjoy.

I've really gotten into the Lovecraft mythos lately. I found a neat thesis here: http://www.baharna.com/psychozoan/9701/lovecrft.htm
Hellboy really sparked my interest in the subject. I'm not sure many people really connected the two(or know who lovecraft is).

It's so cool to find someone else who likes Leiber's Our Lady of Darkness—on my last reread, I made the mistake of seeing what I could find online about some of the (I assume fictional) works he mentions in the book and instead came across all kinds of people frothing at the mouth about what a lame, horrible, badly-written book it had been. I still think it's a minor masterpiece in terms of understated, slowly-building surrealism and horror. But then, there are people who dismiss Lovecraft as merely bombastic and twee.

Given any successful author, there will always be someone who dismisses him or her. The only time those people are right, of course, is when they agree with me. :-)
