I'm at work alone today, as [livejournal.com profile] shadesong is out sick. :-( Elayna's at home, taking care of her. :-)

Came to work to find a server hung up. Lovely.

I did, however, start reading P is for Peril (nabbed via ILL, as it's the one book in the series that this library doesn't stock), and got to the part where [livejournal.com profile] magenta_girl's mom gets tuckerized! Yay!

Now if only I didn't have so much damned work on my plate. My inbox was screaming in pain this morning from the incoming help desk calls, I swear.

Late Wednesday night (actually, more like early Thursday morning), Elayna wandered into the room to tell me that she'd had a bad dream. I hugged her, told her to get back to sleep, etc., and she asked if she could read. I figured she'd read until she got tired again, as I often do.

Nope. She read from 1:30 until 6:30, when it was time to get up to come into the office with us. Yes, she's now finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (she read over 300 pages in that one chunk of time).

And (almost as delightful), we had no problems getting one overly tired (she refused to nap) kid to bed last night.

Now our kid's at the same waiting-for-book-six stage we are. :-)

One of the blogs I read is Chocolate and Zucchini, a nifty French food blog (with an LJ feed, of course). Imagine my surprise at seeing a picture of a Jack Vance novel there today (the blog author's dad just translated one into French)! All my damned interests are overlapping!

Judd Winick's new cartoon, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, debuts on Monday on Cartoon Network, so remember to program your Tivos. It looks to have some serious potential (and unlike other Judd works, characters brought back from the dead in this one will, one hopes, be part of a plotline that makes sense and doesn't make me want to beat the living crap out of him. Not that the return of Jason Todd annoys me or anything. Really. But maybe Judd just shouldn't write any non-creator-owned character).

The debut episode involves evil Leprechauns, which is always a good thing in my book.

Oh, and Susan Blu, last mentioned in this LJ two weeks ago for her role in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, is the casting director. You learn such interesting things from the IMDB.

First, Greg the Bunny is finally returning! Yay!

Second, wanna know the original plotline for the Scavos in Desperate Housewives?
not really spoilers, but cutting just in case )

And next-season Lost spoilers from that same chat:
Spoilers, although not character-specific )
