1. Crappy start to the day so far, which either indicates a downward spiral (and not the happy fun kind that involves Trent Reznor singing about fucking you like an animal, either) or that things can only get better.

2. There were, at least, fresh bagels in the break room this morning.

3. The DVD release of Season 2 of the Tick has been announced! Spoon! But it's missing "Alone Together" (the Galactus episode). Boo!

4. Speaking of The Tick, while at the Harvard Square New England Comics yesterday, I found the Captain Liberty action figure in the bargain bin! Yay, Liz Vassey!

5. We all got haircuts yesterday at this place. Intergalactic Master Stylists indeed!

6. Poison has a cover album! And it features the "real" Poison lineup -- Bret, CC, Rikki, and Bobby. With covers of stuff like "You don't Mess Around with Jim" and "Just What I Needed," I'm so there.

6.5 Seriously. Don't knock Poison. Flesh and Blood remains one of my all-time favorite albums.

7. Electronic Jewish Prayer Keychain! How the hell is this not in the Archie McPhee catalog?

8. In the interest of trying to find a browser with faster HTML rendering than Safari and fewer memory leaks/more stability than Firefox, I've also been playing with Camino, Omniweb, Shiira, and Opera. Annoyingly, not one of them is a perfect browser. Camino wins on the stability and memory issues, but offers no forms autofill or extensibility. Shiira and Opera are simply not stable enough (although I adore the features of Opera). Omniweb is bulky, and has weak autofill. My perfect browser is still Firefox's extensibility, Omniweb's rendering, Camino's stability and memory footprint, and Safari's form autofill. Give me all of those, and I'm a loyal customer for life.

9. As for my Mets, let's just say that I'm having horrible flashbacks to the Art Howe years. Last night was ugly, as was this entire series. At least the starting pitching has been solid (even if there's nothing to show for it).

10. Finally, Rep. Tom Feeney, a Florida Congressman on the take by the RIAA and the MPAA wants to cut funding to colleges unless they stop file sharing on their networks (because universities should be, you know, cops). I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that this idiotic idea is purely the result of the fact that he kowtows to those who have bought him, and not because he's actually thought the issues through.

No, I don't regularly read [livejournal.com profile] chefdcb, but thanks to [livejournal.com profile] desperance, [livejournal.com profile] hangingfire, and [livejournal.com profile] chris_walsh, I'm very aware of the bacon profiteroles. And now so are all of you. :-)

Also, I was already well-aware of the Vosges Bacon Bars. And yes, I would like approximately four thousand of them. If they taste half as good as the bacon truffles did, they'll be amazing.
