1. I hate Daylight Savings Time. Hate hate hate hate hate the idea. I want my afternoons and evenings back. ETA: Yes, I hate Standard time, really. But what I really hate is the actual process of switching.

2. I know it won't last, but for today, the Jets (5-3 overall, 2-1 in the division) are in first place!

3. Watching SNL was fascinating. McCain was funny (which is no surprise), but he also all but conceded. And threw Palin under the truck in that opening skit. You know he'd have loved a way to throw Steve Schmidt there too.

4. Forgot to bring the non-Elayna Halloween candy (the stuff that she doesn't eat, but which 'song and I are likely to snack on) into work. Need to do that tomorrow for the sake of my gut.

5. Shockingly, many of the folks supporting Prop 8 in California aren't just bigots; they're also liars. (That said, I'm sure that some of them are bigots but not liars. I don't buy that any of them aren't bigots, however; non-bigoted folks who have issues with the involvment of the courts (like Patterico) are going to come down opposed to Prop 8.

6. I'm equally shocked that Circuit City is closing a bunch of stores. And that the list includes the one near Lenox/Phipps in Atlanta, where I never actually saw a salesperson. Or a deal.

7. BBCAmerica has started showing the British revival of their version of Gladiators. It's fun so far, with the same larger-than-life personalities that the American remake has. Definitely worth watching.

8. I'm impressed by Jon Heyman's list of free agents. It's one of the better analyses out there. Go Hot Stove League!

That's it. Still too stuffy for more than eight thoughts today.

I've got three versions of "The Time Warp" on my iTunes. They're the Groovie Ghoulies punk cover, the Alvin and the Chipmunks, um, chipmunk cover, and the version from the 2000 B'way revival with Daphne Rubin-Vega and Raúl Esparza. But I don't have the original Roxy or film recordings.

I also somehow only have this (admittedly damned fine) Spunge cover of "Centerfold," and am missing the J. Geils original (even though I know I've got the album somewhere in the house).

On the other hand, my lack of the Bonnie Raitt song "Something to Talk About" doesn't bother me at all, as the Daryl Hall and KT Tunstall one is better, anyway.

Amazon's TV Deal of the Week is season 1 of Supernatural for $23.99 (60% off).

They've also got a Batman Bundle Set sale. Buy any three of the items on that page (which includes assorted sets of Justice League, Batman: TAS, Batman Beyond, Teen Titans, The Batman, and even Justice League: The New Frontier all already going for 45-57% off), and they'll knock another 10% off the total.

Following up that last post, there are still two shows in the Timm/Diniverse that don't exist on DVD. Please release Static Shock (beyond the one dvd that trickled out a few years ago) and The Zeta Project today, okay?

Love,

NFL Hall-of-Famer Steve Young -- descendant of Brigham Young, and about as famous a Mormon athlete as you'll find -- is a much classier athlete than Jeff Kent.

(Then again, Dave Kingman was a classier athlete than Jeff Kent.)
