[livejournal.com profile] shadesong was talking about the awful day she had on the bus when her ipod had run out of juice and she had no book.

Me: You could always talk to people.

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong: Fuck that.

[livejournal.com profile] me: Yeah, I never got that article I read recently about the great conversations to be had on the bus.

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong: Fuck that a bunch. Fuck that two bunches.

*pause*

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong: Fuck that a bushel and a peck.

Me: I was about to say that!

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong: Were you? Yeah, I must've gotten it out of your head. I've never even seen that show.

(Aside: Seriously, I do not get the thrill of talking to people on the bus. Of the roughly four-thousand conversations I've had on buses and planes, I think about two of them have not made me want to spork my ears out.)

Granted, just about all of them come down to "crappy writing," but some wikisurfing led to this tidbit from the Wikipedia entry for The Engineer:

Spica was apparently sexually assaulted during her school-age years by a renegade Doctor who travelled back in time while they were fighting

Because one of the items on the checklist of "crappy writing" (and Millar generally hits all of them -- he's talented in ways that ordinary mediocre hacks like Scott Lobdell could only dream of aspiring to) is gratuitous rape (and yeah, I read the issue, so I stand by the adjective).

TV bits

How behind am I?

I only just saw the last three episodes of this season of Fringe (still processing my thoughts on it). I've got four episodes of Camelot waiting for me (I finally saw "Three Journeys" today, which is a textbook example of how to do a solid filler mid-season episode), two of Detroit 1-8-7, four of The Borgias, and assorted bits of other shows (including the Tony Awards). I'm sure my DVR hates me.

That said, I'm up to date on Law and Order: CI, at least. And love the fact that next week's episode seems to be about Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Also caught up on Game of Thrones and Doctor Who, only one behind on In Plain Sight, and one behind on Love Bites (which I'm watching because Becki Newton and Greg Grunberg pretty much guarantee that I'll watch three episodes of a show).

The point being, don't assume I'm caught up on TV yet. And with True Blood, Pretty Little Liars, Torchwood, and others coming this summer, that might not change.
