Seen on TV yesterday:

". . . second to nobody in its class. And by 'nobody,' I mean 'Ram and Ford.'"

So according to the Chevy commercial, Chevy is actually second to Ram and Ford.

Chevy's ad agency is clearly second to nobody. And by "nobody," I mean "everybody."

The DVD Deal of the Week offers the first five Fast and Furious movies for $25.49 (65% off) on DVD, or $36.49(65% off) on Blu-Ray.

The Family Deal of the Week offers either the first two Home Alone movies for $9.99 on Blu-Ray, or the first three movies on DVD for $11.99 (both 60% off).

The TV Deal of the Week offers a bunch of British TV Series for up to 70% off. Choices include Murdoch Mysteries, Foyle's War, Doc Martin, Midsomer Murders, Maigret, Prime Suspect, Garrow's Law, and Duchess Duke Street.

And the Collection Deal of the Week (but not the TV Deal, because, well, Amazon) offers either the complete Beverly Hills 90210 ($127.99/63% off) or Melrose Place ($119.99/54% off).

Other good TV deals include Friends: The Complete Series for $89.99 (56% off), Gilmore Girls: The Complete Series for $79.99 (69% off), Spawn: The Animated Collection at $9.96 (75% off), and A Charlie Brown Christmas fir $8.96 (55% off).

The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition (Blu-Ray and DVD combo set) is $19.96 (50% off).

If renting's more your style, you can get a 48-hour rental of World War Z in HD for $.99. That's almost certainly less than what it'll cost you On Demand.

The Music Deal of the Day is on Broadway Soundtracks, with a bunch at $6.99 each, and others heavily discounted. There are 30+ titles here, including Wicked, Les Miz, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oklahoma!, Mama Mia, Shrek, Little Shop of Horrors, and one of my all-time favorites, Crazy For You (you simply cannot go wrong with Jodi Benson -- in her Little Mermaid prime -- singing "Someone to Watch Over Me").

In books, Amazon's got a huge (up to 60% off) sale on Astronomy books, and a similar one on Computer Science books.

On the Kindle, you can nab Geek Wisdom from Quirk Books for $2.79! This one has essays by lots of neat folks (as Quirk books tend to). You can also grab Damon Lindelof's Ultimate Marvel Wolverine vs Hulk run for $1.99. This does not actually end with Hulk and Wolverine pairing up after they're dead in a church while leaving dozens of questions unanswered, in case you were wondering.

In video games, Gears of War: Judgment for the Xbox 360 is $19.99 (50% off).

Also on sale for the Xbox 360: The Skylanders Giants Starter Pack for $35 (42% off).'

PAYDAY The Heist is available as a digital download for the PC for $4.99 (75% off).

Moving from games with toys to toys based on games, the K'NEX Angry Birds Christmas Advent Calendar is back on sale for $27.99 (30% off).

The LEGO Friends Heartlake City Pool is $26.60 (33% off), and the Monopoly Empire Game is $12.99 (41% off).

In kitchen stuff, the purple Babycakes CP-12 Cake Pop Maker is $9.99 (80% off, but really about 50% below other prices, still a great deal), and does not, as far as I can tell, include any recipes by Neil Gaiman..

The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor is back on sale for $34.99 (50% off).

The T-fal Specialty Nonstick 5-Quart Jumbo Cooker with Glass Lid is $17.99 (33% off, but actually about $14 below others after shipping). The Calphalon Unison Nonstick 8-Inch and 10-Inch Omelette Pan Set is $48.99 (78% off, really about $14 off other sellers, but still a nice deal).

Finally, if you're looking for more complete cookware sets, there's a 50% off and more sale on sets of Cuisinart, All-Clad, Calphalon, and more! As always, some of the sales are better than others (the list price is often misleading on cookware), but especially when you take Prime shipping into account (or even for non-Prime folks, there's free shipping since it's over the threshold), the savings are pretty nice.

From the last World Fantasy Con report:

"As was always our intention, as soon as the Book Club and Kaffeeklatsche sessions were all finished, we started refunding the £5.00 fees of everybody who actually turned up for them."

You know how you can tell when something actually always was the intention? When it's stated from the beginning.

Also, then it's not a "fee." It's a "deposit."

(Don't even get me started on the victim-blaminess in their last report addressed at one of the people who was harassed at the con.)
