Since following the Mets, four days out of five at least, is pretty much fruitless ("Santana and, oh fuck it, pray for rain" is not an ideal team slogan), I'm already at the point in the season where I just have to start appreciating the beauty and intricacies of the game as a whole, and the kind of thinking that it fosters.

Fortunately, there's already some good stuff out there:

Joe Posnanski analyzes how the assorted pitchcounts affect an at-bat.

Dan Turkenkopf then takes a look at the idea of a "wasted" pitch.

Try taking a look at the Astros pitching rotation. My friend Mike is thinking about showing the owner his knuckle ball and asking for a try out to join the team.

i love posnanski. have you read his book about buck o'neill? cause that is marvelous.

and i suppose the only advice i can offer to your team is the same thing i say about mine. its early april, the cardinals will suck again soon. we'll be on top again and be in control. it's gonna be ok. etc.
