Yet another website to avoid
Aug. 23rd, 2009 09:08 amI Tweeted this on Friday, but it's been updated:
Mary Robinette Kowal attempted to use Fundable.com early this year to allow friends to donate money for a new computer purchase.
Fundable, it turns out, was great at collecting the money, not so great at disbursing it.
(Which only goes to show that by "Fundable," they mean they can get funded, not that they're interested in funding others.)
For those who read the initial thread (which is likely lots, since it's been BoingBoinged), note that the president of Fundable has responded and attempted to make things better, generally failing (although the money itself has finally been returned, some six months later). Lots of weaseling, lots of attempts to blame the victim, and no attempts to take responsibility.
