End-of-week Amazon Deals: Calphalon, Blu-Ray, lots of TV on DVD, free jazz

For fans of jazz, Amazon's got a free Pi Recordings sampler.

As a part of their Friday sale, the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-inch Everyday Pan with Lid is $32.99 (80% off, with free shipping). This really is my everyday pan, and I love it a lot. The Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-Quart Stockpot is also on sale, down to $46.99 (72% off, also with free shipping). I have this one, too, but it doesn't get used quite as often (even if it is damned nifty).

In DVDs, the Blu-Ray versions of Dogma, A Knight's Tale, Ghost Rider, Into the Blue, Revenge, The Russell Crowe classic No Way Back, Striking Distance (Bruce Willis is on a boat!), and the crappy Pink Panther remake are down to $7.99 each.

There's also a $9.99 Blu-Ray sale, with great deals on The Wild Bunch, Interview With the Vampire, Blazing Saddles, The Silence of the Lambs, Halloween (the good one), Young Guns, Rambo, and lots of horror (including a two-pack featuring one of my recent favorites, Salvage, along with the film Mortuary -- which I haven't seen -- for the same $9.99 price).

In standard DVD sales, you can pick up a set of all four of the Batman movies from '89-'97 for $9.99 ($2.50 a film, or $5 each for the ones you might actually watch while sober).

Other cheap DVDs: The Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol is $6.49 (57% off); The Shawshank Redemption is $5.49 (63% off);

There a DVD/Blu sale on HBO TV series, with 40-67% off a bunch of series, including John Adams, Entourage, From the Earth to the Moon, The Sopranos, the Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sex and the City, Rome, Deadwood, and, um, little-known HBO shows Get Smart and Everybody Loves Raymond.

The Save up to 60% on TV on DVD sale includes Eureka, Emergency!, Las Vegas, The Rockford Files, Leave it to Beaver, Crossing Jordan, and more.

Finally, there a huge sale on recent TV hits, which really means recent ABC series. The most recent sets of Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, Scrubs, Castle, Ugly Betty, Brothers and Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, and Samantha Who are 49-68% off.

Just to reiterate for your readers, yeah, I ordered this from Amazon and got the corrected disc. But like the boss says, caveat emptor — there's no guarantee you won't get the effed-up edition. Me, I was happy enough to snag the DVD and the source novel for $20 or so.
