A little late here.

As with January Jones, this week was a mixed bag, but unlike Jones, Gordon-Levitt was funny, enthusiastic, and tried a bunch of different roles. It made a huge difference. As did the return of Kenan Thompson, who damned near carried the episode with two of the better numbers.

Obama in China: They still haven't found a way to make Armison's Obama funny, but they used him brilliantly as a straight man here, with Will Forte and Nasim Perdad getting all of the laughs here. I think this is also the first "Live from New York" for either of the new cast members.

Monologue: Damn, Gordon-Levitt delivers it! It took guts to try those moves live, and he was flawless. His bit with Bobby Moynahan (who was otherwise mostly absent this week) was cute, too.

2012: Palin was obvious but effective, and still damned funny.

Secret Word: Meh. Well-acted, but it never really cracked me up. Should have been an end-of-episode sketch.

Reba/Andy: Dear god, this was so much funnier than it had a right to be. Kenan was hilarious, and Samberg did a great job, too.

Jack Johnson's Mellow Show: I love this one, as it's goofy, often surreal, and occasionally just hilarious. Bringing out the real Dave Matthews to sit next to the fake one was a great touch, and his Ozzy impression was surprisingly good. The joke about his fiddler looking like a guy from the Matrix was good, too (and had us giggle during the real musical number).

What Up With That: Damn, this one nailed it for the entire show. Such a simple concept, but having Al Gore on (as well as having Mindy Kaling filling the James Franco "sit there and do nothing" bit) was great. Kenan rocked this one, and bits like Andy Samberg's clown and Jason Sudeikis's tracksuited dancer are just perfect. As is bringing out a choir, Klaus Future, and Jake the Snake Roberts. And throwing out "robocop" into Kenan's list of rhymes.

Weekend Update: Great as always, but a little too short. Gore gave a surprisingly funny performance, but they needed another guest for this bit.

Thanksgiving Dinner and Woman to Woman: Ugh. Two flat sketches in a row. A few choice bits in each, but not enough to justify the time spent on them. I'm generally a big fan of the awkward sketches, but neither of these worked as well as they should have.

Say Anything: Hee! This one had me giggling like crazy, if only because it was such a perfect send-up of one of my favorite films.
