According to to WebMD's symptom checker, the most likely suspects, given my sore throat, headache, mild to moderate fever (fluctuating from 99.7 to 101.4) are flu, acute sinusitis, a cold, strep throat, or viral pharyngitis. Generally, the advice for each of these is to wait it out. Which is frustrating, as I am not a patient person.

Other suggestions include anthrax, mumps, and nearsightedness. I suspect that WebMD is a little broad when coming up with suggestions.

Wow. That sounds like a magic 8-ball that says "SIGNS POINT TO SICK."

Maybe it's a case of nearsighted mumps?

Feel better.

strep throat is not usually a "wait it out" thing...you might want to see a doc to have that ruled out.

Anthrax? Nearsightedness ???
Maybe they *are* using a medical magical 8 ball.. sheesh

And yes, strep does require antibiotics if that diagnosis
becomes confirmed. Hopefully it's just a cold or mild flu.

Tis the season for colds. My students are sniffling, coughing, and sneezing up a storm. I'm not feeling so hot myself.

At least it's better than the Mayo Clinic Guide to Symptoms which lists one of the most likely causes of hiccups as cancer of the larynx.
