Cyrus: Mumblecore generally consists of bad actors, bad writing, bad direction, and bad filmmaking techniques. Cyrus is a mumblecore movie with a great cast (think Jersey State with a jerky camera and lesser soundtrack), but the Duplass brothers have not in any way gotten talented over the last few years.

Lucky Number Slevin: Another movie in which the cast (Lucy Liu, Josh Hartnett, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Bruce Willis, and a completely pointless but cool appearance by Robert Forster) is vastly more talented than the creators, but in this case, the creators at least have a lick of talent, and put together a solid action film with some nicely-delivered twists. Good brain candy.

Predators: I don't have the raging hate-on for the original sequel or even the AvP franchise that most folks (and especially most critics) do, but I still like this one, which basically ignores all movies after the first one. It's silly as all hell (and filled with more plotholes than I can count), and certainly predictable, but the cast carries it pretty well. The ten minutes of Lawrence Fishburne alone make this movie worth watching, although you'll probably be okay waiting for it on video. Also, bonus points for having a director named Nimrod on a movie about hunters.
