So we're finally watching Green Lantern, and we're about half an hour in.

shadesong: This movie is really boring. I hope it picks up once he gets the damned ring.

Me: That doesn't happen until the second movie.

Seriously, I'm not sure I'm wrong. It's like Bendis-level decompressed storytelling here.

Oh, I forgot part of it. Not only is the new, inexperienced Lantern better than the whole Green Lantern Corps (taken individually, to be fair), but he's better than a group of Lanterns working together under the direction of Top Dog Lantern himself.

Does that make it more believable for you?

And then Top Dog Lantern uses the Weapon Too Dreadful to Use (TM), thereby turning himself evil, after the great menace is defeated.

It's a horrible superhero movie. It's not as bad as Daredevil, but its pretty bad. I got off lightly as I enjoy watching the main character parade around in skin tight clothing.

Wash the taste out by watching Captain America. That is a decent super hero flick.
