The parents and principal at Rosemount High School in MN are seriously messed up.

I do not, for the life of me, understand how anyone involved with this could have agreed to it. The fact that it was "only about a minute of the 30-minute assembly" is meaningless, of course. It's still messed up.

Here's some video of it. Definitely WTF. Hi, btw! Found you through the friends-of-friends link. :)

Seriously? I'm no expert on the way American school run, but I would have thought that the original premise "guess which student kissed you" would be outside the bounds of acceptable behaviour, verging on sexual misconduct; but then swapping for parents? Engaging in tonsil-tennis with parentals???

That is seriously fucked up.

Agreed, i'm less creeped out by the parental rickroll than the event itself, because it's taking place in a SCHOOL.

I keep expecting it to be a sting operation. "So, Mr. Suspected Molester, you think it would be awesome fun to French kiss your teen son in front of his peers? You have the right to remain silent..."

You know, I have a strong belief that, just because something squicks me, DOESN'T mean that it's necessarily wrong, or should be illegal, or whatever. I think that a squick is just a squick, and that's all.

That said . . . incest is a HUGE squick for me. And I thought that Minnesotans largely shared the typical American incest taboo . . .

Well, even if incest didn't squick you out, one should still consider the consent issue at the heart of this. There's a misrepresentation of the situation, violating the consent of the students, AND there's a power-dynamic issue at play as well.
