Meet the old boss, same as the new boss
Jan. 13th, 2012 10:02 amNew Penn State President Rodney Erickson actually has the gall to say, "It grieves me very much when I hear people say 'the Penn State scandal.' This is not Penn State. This is the (Jerry) Sandusky scandal."
Horseshit. The Sandusky "scandal" was his raping a series of boys (and that's a flat-out crime, not a scandal; see Roman Polanski for another example of how people use the "scandal" word to try to minimize the actions of a monster.) Penn State, however, is the organization that actively covered up the crime. So yeah, the school gets to own this. No, it doesn't mean that there aren't many wonderful things about the school (I've got a friend enrolled in a distance learning class there right now, know some online buddies who work there, and love some of the work that their gaming commons does), but when the president of the school is involved in the cover-up, it's a Penn State problem.
