The Baseball Hall of Fame counts racist fucks Kenesaw Mountain Landis and Tom Yawkey amongst its members.

So with all due respect to the Baseball Writers Association of America, there is no way anyone on the ballot could possibly have hurt the "integrity" of the Hall of Fame or the game by being elected.

Of course, Ty Cobb is still considered a great one. Hell, Tommy Lee Jones made him downright cuddly in the movie (I think that's why I was surprised that he was playing the radical abolitionist in Lincoln)

Dave points out that the BBWA only votes on players, so they didn't put either of those two in.

(Your point stands, though.)

Hopefully someday they'll vote in Bonds, Clements, etc. And if they don't ever get voted in, at least they'll be in good company with the likes of Shoeless Joe.

Don't forget Cap Anson.

I'm a lifelong Cubs fan and I have no interest in seeing Sosa in the Hall. I still remember the first time my dad took me to Wrigley after he was signed, back when his fielding was pretty lousy. After a particularly lame play, this guy behind us yells "HEY SAMMY! I HOPE YOUR WIFE'S GOT A GOOD JOB!" Best line I ever heard at a ballpark.

Not to mention Jacob Ruppert, one of the several long-dead people being inducted this year who, like Yawkey, fought hard to keep them darkies outta baseball. And John McGraw, for that matter....
