Hermann said she was not asked by Rutgers search committee or Parker Executive Search, the search firm, about the allegations.

So the lesson is, never use Parker Executive Search.

(Second lesson, of course, is that Rutgers also sucks at due diligence; hiring Herman after Rice is just a baffling move; even if you're using a search firm, you could also do a little bit of your own research.)

Heh, it's funny. The guys on ESPN radio this afternoon wondered if they'd just Googled her, and since nothing showed up on the first page they said "yep, she's clean."
