I haven't bothered reviewing things at Amazon in ages (ten years, in fact!), mainly due to time. But in light of how well Elayna did in math this year, reviewing the calculator that saved us a good $60 felt like something worth doing. Elayna still raves about this device.

(I'm sure some of the engineer-types I know have some damned good reasons why the TI is still better, but for Elayna's needs, this was amazing.)

Any true engineer will tell you that this is both necessary and sufficient reason for the Casio. Good goin', squid!

I'm going to buy it. I had to drop a stats class because I just couldn't remember the T83 menus when it came down to the tests.
Maybe this will help.

I stopped after pre-calculus in high school because the combination of my math teacher and the Saxon books bored me to tears. But I loved my humble Casio FX-85.

(I often wonder whether I might have pursued a comp sci degree in college if things had been different, but that's another story.)

TIs are only better if that's what you learned to use when you were 13 and by the time you're 30 every possible function on the damn thing is embedded as deeply in your muscle memory as the ability to walk or chew. Really, they're kind of crappy technology, overpriced to boot (see also). I wouldn't be surprised if the UI on the Casio or HP were far superior to TI's either. That said, both times my TI-82 died, I replaced it with. . .another TI-82. Because that's what I learned on twenty years ago and I am a Creature Of Habit :)

I liked my TI for being able to put games on it. XD Mostly pong. I think I wrote a really really really simple text based dungeon walk for it, too.

However, I appreciate knowing about this. Kero doesn't need one yet, but likely will when she gets to the higher maths.
