I didn't know about the Marion Zimmer Bradley fan fiction fiasco (http://fanlore.org/wiki/Marion_Zimmer_Bradley_Fanfiction_Controversy) until recently. I suppose it's still echoing in the minds of some.

I found out about because I was talking about the case of Babylon 5 and JMS freaking out because someone suggested the basics of the plot of Passing through Gethsemene, but Warren Ellis would shut down his blog for the same reason.

Jasper Fforde especially seems like someone who ought not to have a problem with fanfiction, given the nature of his books.
