Congratulations to everyone! It's light outside, which means that once again, Daylight has been saved from the forces of darkness! Thanks to everyone involved -- the lawmakers who refuse to repeal a ridiculous law, the ghost of Ben Franklin, and, well, I think that's pretty much the sum total of the supporters. But thanks to your hard work, we're once again getting used to cats waking us an hour early and sundown coming on the heels of lunchtime. Good for you!

(Seriously lawmakers. What the fuck? Just scrap this bullshit.)

If you had the power to dictate which timezone to use year-round (the summer 'daylight' time or the winter 'standard' time), which would you choose?

They had a call-in during Boston Public Radio on WGBH on DST. I managed to call in and give my two cents: either leave it on Atlantic Time or stick with Standard Time, but stop changing the damn clocks every year. It's probably in the podcast.

Uhm, it's not the lawmakers' fault that sundown is on the heels of lunchtime, as we're now on regular time rather than "daylight savings time," so early sundown is how it's actually supposed to be.

Right there with you on the rest of it, though...........

Except that lawmakers decide where time zone boundaries are. Perhaps we should be in the next one to the east instead?

Oh, the cats. Merlin started in yowling for his breakfast at 3:30 this morning. I managed to stay in bed until 4:40. It is now 6:00 a.m., and I am contemplating housework because I don't have to be to work for two more hours.

I wish we'd just stay on DST year round. Getting up for work sucks whether it's dark or not, but leaving the office in pitch black at 5:30 SUCKS.
